Surface Area and Volume Video, New Tutorials

Hey Folks,

Over Thanksgiving, I uploaded two new videos. One is about the properties of water, focusing on water’s polarity, hydrogen bonding, and all of its consequences. The second focuses on surface area and volume ratios, and how these ratios affect form and function in living things. I’ve always felt that this is one of the most important concepts in biology, explaining things as diverse as the small size of cells, the huge ears of elephants, the wavy shape of the intestinal villi, and the large size of marine mammals. This video is a perfect follow up to one of my favorite labs: the surface area to volume lab.

I hope you enjoy the video and the lab. I’d love to hear your comments about my latest videos.

Thanks!

Mr. W
